HeHuanShan (合欢山) is a series of high altitude alphine rocky mountains that easily rivals the best Alps in the world. As part of the famous 100 peaks of Taiwan, it is perhaps the easiest to summit by beginners and experienced hikers alike. From the main peak to the East, West, North peaks, there is also the HeHuan Sharp peak and ShimenShan (石门山) all well above 3000m and yet easy to summit. There is a road that drives up to the famed SongSyue Lodge (松雪楼) where one can stay in and walk to the nearby trailheads and hike up the peaks and return in the same day !On the various peaks you can experience beautiful sunrise to views of the distanced famous mountain peaks of Taiwan. October is when the typhoon season has done and the Autumn season taking over, definitely a great time for hiking and photo taking !
Taichung is the second largest city and a wonderful alternative to Taipei with much to explore. From the cultural Rainbow Village to the original Bubble Tea restaurant and much more. It is also an important gateway to many of the 100 Peaks mountains as well as home to many beginners and intermediate hiking trails. The Dakeng (大坑) trails are such unique and interesting hiking routes that is fun and easy to hike.
No matter you are a beginner or experienced hiker, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the high altitude alpine mountains without much hassle preparation or tedious training.
