Collage and scrapbooking workshop with Suzie Winsor.
About this Event

We’re learning the art of switching off this autumn. As we slip into cosy season, this is the perfect workshop to slow things down and help us reconnect with our creativity. In a world of endless scrolling, notifications and AI-generated everything, there’s something dead refreshing about getting lost in the process.

Suzie Winsor has very kindly agreed to be our guest next month. Suzie’s work is heavily inspired by nostalgia – think watching old cartoons, and rummaging around charity shops, second hand bookshops and markets searching for those little sparks of inspiration. Whenever she’s researching for new projects, she’s always taken a tactile approach and she’s been a sketchbook girlie since childhood. It didn’t matter if it was cutting and sticking on the cover of a sketchbook, school folder or mix tape, for Suzie, it always felt like a low pressure way to create. Right now, the noisy world of tech and social media makes it harder to get distracted. So the physical act of creating something without emphasis being on "the perfect finished piece" feels even more appealing than ever.

In this session, Suzie will be talking about how she uses collaging, sketchbooks and most recently junk journalling as a way to enjoy getting lost in the process.

Then it’ll be over to you – you’ll have the chance to create your own collages and journal pages. Bring your sketchbooks, journals, scraps of paper, old magazines or anything you fancy working with (or just bring yourself – paper will be provided). There’ll be some prompts if you’d like a little nudge, but absolutely no creative experience is needed.

As per, there’ll be a delectable array of cheeses and wine/non-alcoholic options.

Tickets are always in high demand so if you fancy switching off for a few hours, you know what to do.

Our meet-ups are inclusive and supportive spaces and we welcome anyone who’s creative (in whatever form that takes) to join us. We also recognise that our male allies can support our cause further by hearing the thoughts and opinions voiced at our get-togethers. We only ask that our guests respect the inclusive atmosphere and continue to engage in discussion and idea generation for the promotion and support of equal opportunities for female and non-binary identifying creatives.
