Join us at the SAR Genealogical Research Library in Louisville on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, during our regularly scheduled Saturday opening for special programming celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. In addition to a new display of related artefacts from the collections of the NSSAR, there will be showings of short World War Two era documentaries about life in the Navy and Marine Corps as well as a raffle drawing to win either a SAR Commemorative U.S. Navy 250th Challenge Coin OR a SAR Commemorative U.S. Marine Corps 250th Challenge Coin**.*This event will be held in conjunction with SAR's Fall Leadership Weekend.
** You must be present to enter, but do not need to be present to win. Winners announced by email.
Activities include:
• Write a postcard to a deployed Sailor or Marine
• Try on vintage-style sailor hats
• Knot-tying station (learn the square knot, bowline)
• Access military records and family history tools
• Print your ancestor's military service record (if available)
• View SAR archival materials
• Watch World War Two short documentaries
• Learn about SAR and SAR membership
• Raffle drawing (must be present to enter)
• Enjoy light refreshments
