In this workshop we will learn how to use online and in-person resources to learn as much as possible about your ancestry and discuss the various kinds of Ancestral Altars that you can utilize or construct to honor your ancestors and to create a powerful and intentional waystation in your dwelling.

Ancestral Research becomes more and more possible with each passing moment. Because of the time spent in Quarantine and a groundbreaking 2012 lawsuit that the Mau Mau took up against the United Kingdom, a WEALTH of historical information and documentation has come online and is just waiting to be found. The Internet is representative of the world! Every time people find a box in the back of an attic, every time someone passes and bequeaths their cherished belongings to a descendant or loved one, this one-of-a-kind and once-in-a-lifetime information can be scanned, documented and uploaded online.

The wealth of human history can be found in and under people's places of habitance. Uploading these things online by scanning them or even taking photos of them PRESERVES HISTORY and tells a deeper and richer story of our humanity for the generations to come. I cannot overemphasize the significance of doing this in the age of climate change and environmental devastation. It's never just homes and people being swept away, torn up, swallowed whole or burned down. It's ENTIRE WORLDS OF EXPERIENCE and whole libraries of information and wisdom.

What Ancestry and 23 & Me claim they do for you, you can also do for yourself. Not the DNA breakdown part because for now that still requires a laboratory, but the finding of your living and dead relations... That can be done for the price of an internet connection, a few free membership subscriptions, and a library card. Those websites just troll the internet and search your name and any images you upload, collating data that is already available to you if you know how to look. I study how to look. I've found photos, books and even handwritten, signed documents and you can as well because I will teach you how.

In addition to providing research links by continent that I've personally developed over years of researching my own widespread family, I will break down the many ways you can use online and in-person resources to find out as much as you can about where your ancestors came from and who they were. This is even possible to some extent for adoptees, depending on how much information they can get from adoptive parents and their adoption service. Of course, doing a DNA test will be highly informative, but as many people do not feel comfortable doing so, the majority of the research methods in this workshop will be archival-based.

We will end the workshop discussing the various kinds of Ancestral Altars that you can utilize or construct to honor your ancestors and to create a powerful and intentional waystation in your dwelling. In my ontological framework, all of Earth is a waystation where various forms of life and energy meet. Knowing that about Earth and being intentional about that while you're on Earth is not the same thing. I will provide a document on Ancestral Altar construction for all attendees.

Sanyu Estelle is a Claircognizant ("clear knowing") Soothsayer ("truth teller") that is also known as "The Word Witch" because of her deep love for word origins (etymology) and word culture (philology). These natural inclinations are bolstered by a 15+ year practice of Daoism, as well as a 10+ year relationship with Ifa, the indigenous tradition of the Yoruba people of now-Nigeria.

Sanyu is known for her straightforward card reading style ("the reading you need, not necessarily the reading you want"), "Deluge" Channeling (she delivers a lot of information in one sitting so she always recommends a recording), and allowing the deck (she has over 30 decks) to designate the client.

As a Soothsayer, Sanyu Estelle's gift is truth-telling. With 15 years of card reading experience and 25 years of public speaking experience, her readings are often listened to over many years by her clients. She is a "1st generationish" (long, but great story) US-American of Ugandan and Belizean descent born, bred and buttered in Los Angeles on land traditionally stewarded by the Tongva.

Her spiritual work includes Dreamscapes Academy, Quantum Energetics, card readings, life regressions, soothsaying, I Ching hexagrams and root work (words, not Hoodoo). Her creative work includes singing, songwriting, performance art, public speaking, event programming, and writing across all genres.

REFUND POLICIES

All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges for PRS events, except in the event of a medical emergency, including but not limited to a positive COVID-19 test.

In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.

PARKING

Parking is available in both front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east) and back lot (entry from first alley way, off Griffith Park Blvd. from intersection with Los Feliz Blvd.), as well as ample street parking on Griffith Park Blvd.

PRS EVENT POLICIES

* We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

* Events are subject to change without notice, including guest speakers and/or performers.

* We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.

* Please turn off all mobile devices before the show. Talking and texting are not allowed during the events.

* No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.

* There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.

* We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

* PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines. For further details please visit www.ADA.gov. No animals permitted whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support, under ADA guidelines and CA Health Code.

* Please do not bring outside food or drink into PRS events.

* Weapons are strictly prohibited at PRS events.
