Anaïs Mitchell est une auteure-compositrice basée au Vermont. Elle est aussi la créatrice de la comédie musicale Hadestown pour laquelle elle a écrit le livre, la musique et les paroles, ce projet a été primée aux Tony et Grammy.
Elle a gagné une place sur la prestigieuse liste « TIME 100 » de Time Magazine en 2020 pour son premier livre, « Working on a Song - the Lyrics of Hadestown » qui a été publié par Penguin/Plume. La compositrice à déjà sorti 7 albums et propose des morceaux folk-opéra. Elle a joué plusieurs fois sur la scène de Broadway et a été nommée "one of the greatest songwriters of her generation" par NPR.
Son nouvel album éponyme sort le 28 janvier 2022, enregistré avec Josh Kaufman et des musiciens de l’entourage de Bon Iver.

Anaïs Mitchell is een singer-songwriter uit Vermont die met haar Broadway-musical Hadestown zowel een Tony als een Grammy Awards won. Voor die voorstelling schreef ze een boek, de muziek en de teksten.
Mitchell werd opgenomen in de prestigieuze TIME100 van het magazine TIME in 2020 en 'Working on a song - the lyrics of Hadestown' werd in hetzelfde jaar gepubliceerd bij Penguin/Plume.
Op haar nieuwe self-titled album, dat verschijnt op 28 januari 2022, toont de Amerikaanse waarom NPR haar "one of the greatest songwriters of her generation" noemt.
Ze nam deze plaat (haar eerste sinds 2012!) op met Josh Kaufman en muzikanten uit de entourage van Bon Iver, The National en haar eigen band Bonny Light Horseman. Mitchell stelt het nieuwe materiaal hier voor het eerst voor in de Rotonde van de Botanique en toert met een band van artiesten die meewerkten aan de langspeler.
