A movement-based expressive arts group practice harnessing rhythms of breath, sound and body—to cultivate embodied wisdom in the AI age.
About this Event

anam rince (ahnahm rinkah, Irish for ‘soul dance’) is a pedagogy and practice weaving somatics, percussive movement, arts process, and ritual performance to empower human potential, to inspire creativity, and to reawaken embodied wisdom in the artificially intelligent age.

Each group session focuses on a theme and intention to explore through somatic movement, visual art, poetry, and ritual expression as a means to make artistic meaning from challenging material encountered in daily life. Rooted in the patterns, origins and essence of Irish dance, anam rince bridges body-mind-soul with the rhythms of wild nature.

Sessions are facilitated by Garrett Coleman, an Irish dancer and movement artist for over 30 years. Garrett is a Tony Nominated, Drama Desk and Chita Rivera Award-winning Broadway choreographer, a two-time CLRG solo World Champion Irish dancer, a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, co-creative director of genre-bending dance phenomena HAMMERSTEP, and co-creator/producer of the sci-fi immersive theatre drama INDIGO GREY. He is a graduate of the Tamalpa Institute and a practitioner of the Life/Art Process®. After 15 years in NYC, he is based once again in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where his life/art is inspired by fatherhood, family, community, and the rhythms of nature.
