Analogue Photography and Film Development Workshop

Join Aleks of Negative Space Development for a photo walk around Stockport.

The group will share a handful of analogue cameras loaded with black-and-white 35mm film. Participants will explore the town together, work thoughtfully with natural light, and shoot intentionally on analogue film.

Each participant will have the chance to take at least 12 photographs across a variety of analogue cameras.

After a lunch break, the workshop continues at Merseyway Workshop with a hands-on introduction to developing black-and-white film. Aleks will guide participants through the whole process, from unloading exposed film from the cameras, measuring chemicals, calculating timings, filling developing tanks and processing the film.

After the workshop, the rolls of film will be dried at the studio before being scanned by Aleks, and the resulting photographs emailed to you in a high quality format.

You will leave the workshop equipped with new skills and a series of black and white photographs, shot and processed by you.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. A small bank of cameras and B&W 35mm film will be provided.

The workshop will take place between 10AM-2PM, rough timings as follows:

10AM-12PM: Photo walk

12-1PM: Lunch break

1-2PM: Film developing

• Clothes you don't mind getting messy in.

• We are within a short walk from Stockport train and bus station. Parking is available at the Merseyway Shopping Centre NCP.

• This is a FREE event with a refundable £10 deposit, which will be returned to you upon attendance of the event. Please only book a ticket to this event if you are available and fully committed to attending the event. In the event that you are no longer able to attend, we ask that you let us know with as much notice as possible so that we are able to transfer your ticket to somebody else, rather than your spot going to waste.
