Come for a week of wood firing in the Anagama kiln. Bring 60-80 bisque pots and take a few shifts stoking the kiln! Pieces MUST be made from a cone 10 clay body. When you are not at the kiln, feel free to throw pots in the studio, hike trails on our 550 acres of beautiful property, visit Governor Dodge State Park or visit local art galleries. 6-8 studio glazes are available for your use.Adamah will provide:
Wax resist and paraffin wax
Brushes, sponges, and other glazing tools
Clay available for purchase for those looking to utilize the studio
Wadding
Glazes
Gloves
Participants should bring:
60-80 bisqued pots ready to glaze
Any personal brushes or glazing tools wished to use during the workshop
Natural fiber clothes (denim, wool, cotton, leather). Long sleeves, long pants and closed toed shoes must be worn around the kiln.
Glazing: November 17
Loading the kiln: November 18 - 19
Firing: November 20-22
Kiln unloading and cleanup: Sat. November 30
Please note: This is a physically demanding workshop. Part of the woodfire process includes splitting and preparing wood for the next firing to come. This workshop may require an overnight/early morning stoking shift.
