Welcome to the AAE Course
Join us on the 10th and 11th of September at the Association of Anaesthetists’ Headquarters, by David Nott Foundation, for an immersive two-day course focused on delivering anaesthesia in austere and humanitarian environments.
This course is suitable for anaesthetists of ST3 and above with an interest in humanitarian work. It is Royal College of Anaesthetists CPD approved and accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Content is delivered by subject matter experts through a blend of presentations, hands-on workshops, and small group discussions.
Topics include:
- Understanding austere environments
- Anaesthetic techniques, including drawover anaesthesia
- Transfusion in austere environments
- Pre-hospital care and transfers
- Managing scarce resources
- Crush injury and earthquake response
- Triage and major incident management
- Obstetrics and paediatrics
- Clinical decision-making in challenging settings
