Get ready to laugh, play, and create! This comedy workshop uses family friendly improv games to help students of all ages unlock their creativity and explore their comedy instincts. Through interactive exercises, you’ll learn how to generate ideas, improvise scenes, and develop original material that can grow into fully written comedy sketches.About the Instructors:
Students will play a variety of characters, explore the humor in different settings, and discover how to find the funny in everyday situations. Everyone will have the chance to perform, make jokes, and try out their own ideas in a supportive and encouraging environment.
By the end of class, students will have unleashed their silly and walk away with practical tools to create and perform their very own comedy sketches.
About the Instructors:
Shoa Appelman and Emily Ornstein are directors, writers, and performers with Bad Medicine Sketch Comedy. Bad Medicine is an award winning DC comedy troupe that has been performing live comedy across North America for over 10 years. In addition to producing sketch shows and teaching sketch comedy at the historic DC Improv Comedy Club, Bad Medicine has performed at the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, Austin Sketchfest, NYC Sketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest, SketchFest Seattle and Philly Sketchfest. Award winning short films have screened at the DC Shorts Film Festival, HBO's Women in Comedy Festival, Portland Comedy Film Festival, Atlanta Comedy Film Festival and more. Bad Medicine is also a cofounder of DC Sketchfest, Washington DC’s only sketch comedy festival.
