About this Event
The National Trust’s Ivinghoe Beacon is a large area of steep chalk downland, with a rich flora and a good range of summer butterflies. It offers spectacular views of the surrounding Chilterns from the northern end of the Ridgeway.
We will explore the steep grassland slopes and areas of scrub on this fabulous site, looking for summer butterflies and day-flying moths. Hopefully, these will include both Chalk Hill Blue and Dark Green Fritillary.
Accessibility & risks: steep and strenuous slopes; as well as rabbit holes, brambles and scrub. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks.
Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.
Meet in the National Trust car park.
