There are over 40,000 family foundations in the U.S., but it is estimated that fewer than 200 are founded and/or run by Black families. CNWF is one of three operating Black family foundations in SC.
While Black family foundations comprise a small percentage of overall charitable giving, African Americans persistently give a higher percentage of their annual income when compared to their White peers.
