An Italian Back-to-School Party with The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
About this Event
In Italy, four o'clock is a meal.
It's called la merenda: the after-school snack. Kids come home, drop the backpack, and eat something warm and sweet before homework starts. It isn't a treat. It's a scheduled, non-negotiable part of the Italian day, and we think New York could use one.
On Saturday, September 12, we're throwing the doors open at 866 Broadway for a free afternoon of it, with a very special guest.
Storytime with The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
Our friends from the Off-Broadway production at DR2, three blocks away, are coming over to read. Three sittings: 3:15, 4:00 and 4:45. Free, but space is genuinely limited, so grab a slot below.
Decorate Your Own Mini Minuto (opt in, $10 for the Back to School Kit)
Minuto Bauli is our iconic sweet Italian bun, made from a mother yeast the Bauli family has kept alive in Verona since 1922. It's baked fresh and filled to order. On the 12th, we're handing the decorating duties to your kids. Pastry cream, hazelnut, pistachio, and as many sprinkles as they can justify.
