A talk by Theo Litsos, Principal Engineer, Wentworth House Partnership.

This presentation will give an overview of temporary works in large infrastructure projects. It will cover the main areas of temporary works by providing practical examples from recent projects with particular focus in sustainability and future ready approaches.

As a structural engineer, have you thought enough about the buildability of your design solution? What is the social, economic and environmental impact of your temporary works? How early in the design stages you start thinking about temporary works?

As TW engineers we play a significant role in leading the construction industry in safe and sustainable solutions during the construction phase. Hence, it is vital to understand the importance of temporary works, and how we should approach them as structural engineers!

Useful additional information can be found in the IStructE Temporary Works Toolkit (https://www.istructe.org/thestructuralengineer/article-series/temporary-works-toolkit/) and in the online page of the Temporary Works Forum (https://www.twforum.org.uk/home)
