About this Event
Highland Park is a Rochester treasure. Not only is it a world-class Arboretum, but it’s a part of only 4 city-wide park systems designed by Olmsted.
Walk with us as we introduce you to the beauty and genius vision of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Highland Park. This is a combined historical and horticulture tour. Olmsted’s background will be highlighted and how it influenced his design/layout, vision, and purpose for the park. The tour guides will point out and discuss many of the unique and special “legacy” and specimen plants that make this a truly unique and special place to be.
This walking tour (rain or shine) will last approximately 1.25 hours and will traverse over winding paved paths throughout the park. Please note the tour requires the ability to walk and stand throughout. Meet the tour guides at the front of the Gate House on Reservoir Avenue near the Overlook. The tour will begin here and end at the Conservatory.
Susan and Ron are volunteers with the Highland Park Conservancy as both Docents and Garden Stewards.
**Please note the tour will begin at the Highland Park Gate House - please look for sidewalk signage. Attached is an image of the Gate House.
**Parking can be found along Reservoir Avenue along the south side of the street.
