An Introduction to a Winter Highland Park, a Botanical Oasis in the City

Walk with us as we introduce you to the beauty and genius vision of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Highland Park. This Winter tour will provide a very different view of the trees and shrubs during their dormant period. We will focus on Highland Park’s history, design, and landscape. Frederick Law Olmsted’s background will be highlighted and how it influenced his design/layout, vision, and purpose for the park. The tour guide will point out and discuss some of the unique and special “legacy” and specimen plants that make this a truly unique and special place to be.

This walking tour (rain, shine, or snow) will last approximately 1.25 hours and will traverse over winding paved paths throughout the park. Please note the tour requires the ability to walk and stand throughout. Meet the tour guide at the front of the Gate House on Reservoir Avenue near the Overlook.

The tour will begin here and end at the Gatehouse #2.

**Parking can be found along Reservoir Avenue along the south side of the street. Please follow parking sign guidelines.

Tour is limited and ticketed - if you are unable to attend, please be sure to cancel your ticket, freeing up a spot for another guest.

We are vulnerable to Mother Nature - this tour will be outdoors, so plan your dress and weather gear accordingly. In the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms and high winds the tour may be cancelled and rescheduled.
