From the golden age of Hollywood musicals to the productions reshaping the stage today, musical theatre has always used dance to tell stories when simple words fail.
On October 17, 2026, Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective presents An Homage to Musical Theatre, a one-night live dance production celebrating the movement, music, characters and storytelling of the musical stage.
Featuring original choreography inspired by classic and contemporary productions including Chicago, Hamilton, Hairspray, Singin’ in the Rain, A Chorus Line, Beetlejuice, SIX and more, the evening brings together a wide range of theatrical dance styles in one immersive performance.
"An Homage to Musical Theatre" is choreographed and directed by Christifer Duxbury, founder of Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective and a Calgary dance instructor, choreographer and coach with more than two decades of experience in dance and musical theatre.
Drawing from backgrounds in stage, live theatre, competitive dance, social dance, partner dancing, musical theatre, performance choreography and more, Christifer’s work combines technical dance training with musicality, stagecraft, character development and storytelling.
Through Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective, dancers are given opportunities not only to learn steps, but to experience the full creative process of developing, rehearsing and performing choreography for a live audience.
This showcase brings those elements together in one evening devoted to the theatrical side of dance.
