About this Event

Yáng Shuāng-zi and her translator Lin King join us in discussion with poet Sean Wai Keung to discuss Taiwan Travelogue, winner of this year's International Booker Prize.
Blending forms and styles, Yáng Shuāng-zi's novel is a beautifully metafictional story of queer love disguised as a travelogue through colonial-era Taiwan by a Japanese writer. Reflecting on language, colonialism, culture, and the complexities of translation, Lin King's sensitive translation won the International Booker Prize, and both author and translator join us in the shop to discuss the novel and the impact of winning the prestigious prize together with Sean Wai Keung, poet and author of sifkan glaschu.
