Join us at An Evening with Yanis Varoufakis and Friends, featuring Yanis Varoufakis, Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah and Leanne Minshull.
In his most personal book yet, Raise Your Soul: A Personal History of Resistance, Yanis Varoufakis tells the engrossing story of his political awakening. This captivating portrait is told through the extraordinary lives of five women, and the West's tumultuous history from 1924 to the present.
In his chapter in A Time for Bravery: What happens when Australia chooses courage?, he tells the story of Piero, a political refugee from Chile, using his story to urge governments to return to a time where we recognised the importance of taking in refugees. Leanne Minshull writes about the great disruption, and why bravery alone is not enough to get us through it.
In Discipline, Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah explores the fractures in the fabric of society. A timely work of fiction, it tallies the price we all pay when those with privilege choose to remain silent.
Yanis Varoufakis will be in conversation with Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah, an award-winning author, academic and human rights advocate, and Leanne Minshull, co-CEO at The Australia Institute.
All three books will be available for purchase at the venue and a book signing will follow the event.
