About this Event
Esteemed author Piers Torday, winner of the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, has written a beautiful book which reflects his experience of being with his father during his final illness. It’s such an uplifting and comforting book – and although There may be a castle was written for young people, it can be read with great profit by those of any age. Alison just loved it.
Do come along to hear about the writing process, the cathartic impact of writing about personal experience, and to have your copy of the book signed by the author.
There may be a castle can be purchased from The Regency Bookshop in Surbiton, and you get a discount on your ticket if you buy book and ticket at the same time.
Piers is the son of author Paul Torday, whose much celebrated Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was turned into a very successful film starring Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor. It was his first book, published when he was 60. After his untimely death his family decided to set up a prize, to be run in his name, for authors who are first published at the age of 60+. At the time of his death, he was writing another novel, which his son Piers completed for him.
