An Evening with Street Noise Books
Featuring authors Morgan Boecher, Kris Dresen, JD Glass, Makee, and Jesse Mechanic
In conversation with Street Noise publisher Liz Frances
Wine reception to follow

Greenlight celebrates the work of independent Brooklyn press Street Noise Books, with six of their authors and publisher Liz Frances! Focusing on graphic novels and memoirs, Street Noise specializes in titles that have a radical, intersectional feminist, queer, and inclusive vision, and seeks to provide a platform for the voices of marginalized people. Hoping to be a part of the authentic, thoughtful and emotionally honest lives their readers are building for themselves—Street Noise is empowered to effect change. Unapologetic, authentic, and politically relevant, these are real books, for people who give a damn.

Featured on the panel are Morgan Boecher, author of Chicken Heart, an emotionally powerful story of a standup comedian's journey of self-discovery, exploring the pitfalls and power of choosing one's own queer narrative; Kris Dresen and JD Glass, co-authors of Punk Like Me, a queer coming-of-age story, about best friends, first love, family conflicts, and following your heart; Makee, author of Call Me Emma: One Chinese Girl Finds Her Way in America, where, after immigrating from China to New York City, a teenage girl and her family struggle to adjust to the new world they’ve found themselves in; and Jesse Mechanic, author of The Last Time We Spoke: A Story of Loss, an emotional and heartbreaking memoir of the author’s lifelong struggle with his mother’s death from cancer. Liz Frances, founder of Street Noise Books, will moderate the discussion before an audience Q&A and signings.
