About this Event
Head to the German Consulate General New York on December 15th for a conversation with Sophie Sadler, who has been blogging about the German-American experience for more than 10 years as Dirndl Kitchen.
Following a Q&A, Sophie will be signing her new cookbook German Home Kitchen with copies available for purchase.
In German Home Kitchen, Sophie Sadler shares over 65 savory and sweet recipes inspired by the foods of her childhood in Germany, featuring all courses, including Frühstück (breakfast), Für Zwischendurch (snacks), Main Dishes, Beilagen (sides), Sweet Meals, Kaffee und Kuchen (afternoon coffee and cake), and Abendbrot (traditional cold dinner), along with street food, recipes for the joyful Christmas season, and specialties from her Oma’s kitchen.
About Sophie Sadler,
Sophie Sadler’s mission is to help everyone learn to love German food because it's so much more than pretzels and bratwurst (not that those aren't great foods to start with)! In 2015, after six years of living in the United States, she began her German food blog , where she shares many of her German recipes to connect with her upbringing, culture, and the food she grew up with. For those that want a deep dive in into German cuisine, she offers a membership with detailed monthly video tutorials, live meetings, and challenges. Sophie also creates seasonal handmade candles reminiscent of things she misses about Germany. Her first cookbook “German Home Kitchen” debuted October of this year. She hopes that with her recipes you get to experience a bit of Germany the way she grew up with, tucked away between vineyards in the Mosel valley.
