About this Event

An evening With Shawn Glynn of Chakra Records
Featuring Sophia Jackson (SoJay) & MC BGS

Includes a catered intermission featuring fresh juices and Caribbean delights.

Where Story Becomes Song

On the longest night of the year, you are invited to gather for an intimate evening of storytelling, acoustic music, soul, reflection, laughter and human connection.

Set within the beautiful atmosphere of the Cecil Community Centre, a former synagogue with remarkable natural acoustics the evening will unfold gently through incense, piano, voice and story.

This is an opportunity to sit together, listen deeply, and experience the story of a life transformed through music, service, spirituality and an enduring belief in the power of caring for one another.

Shawn’s sound is eclectic, soulful and spiritually grounded, weaving contemporary piano and vocal compositions with acappella performances, selections from previous albums and music that has never before been released.

Between songs, Shawn will share stories from his own journey; his storytelling carries humour, vulnerability, courage and the experiences that shaped both the musician and the person he has become.

At the heart of the evening is a simple message: peace, unity, hope and service to one another.

A One-Time Musical Offering

One of the most intimate moments of the evening will belong only to those who are in the room. Shawn will perform an original acoustic composition created intuitively and spiritually in the moment, a piece that will not be recreated or performed again.

Guests will be invited to record this particular piece and carry it with them as a keepsake from the evening.

Spiritual in Heart.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth is central to Shawn’s personal story of transformation and to the philosophy that guides his life, music and work.

Rather than approaching the evening through religion or doctrine, Shawn explores Jesus through the lens of humanity, compassion and social service; someone who stood alongside people experiencing hardship, cared for those within his circle, challenged social boundaries and demonstrated what it means to serve others.

Shawn often describes Jesus as one of history’s earliest social workers and the framework through which he understands compassion, service and community care. His faith is deeply personal, but this gathering is open to everyone.

Whether you come from a Christian background, another spiritual tradition, or simply believe in music, humanity and the possibility of people caring for one another, you are welcome here.

From the Streets of Toronto to a Life of Service

Shawn brings more than music to the stage.

As a frontline Case Manager and healthcare professional with approximately 30 years of experience, his work has been shaped by his own lived experience of growing up on the streets of Toronto.

In 2017, he was recognized among Canada's 150 Leading Canadians for Mental Health, a moment that helped inspire him to launch Chakra Records and deepen the connection between his music, community service and desire to create change on a personal level.

This evening brings those worlds together:

the musician and the social worker, the storyteller and the servant,
the difficult chapters and the hope that followed.

Music. Food. Friendship. Community.

During intermission, guests will gather over fresh juices and catered Caribbean delights, allowing the evening to become more than a performance it becomes an opportunity for conversation, connection and community.

Guest Performances by Sophia Jackson (SoJay) and MC BGS, bringing additional voices and energy into this one-night-only gathering.

A portion of proceeds from the evening will be donated to a Christian charitable organization supporting work within the City of Toronto.

Your ticket therefore does more than reserve a seat. It helps support grassroots creative work rooted in music, community care and the belief that healing a city begins with how we show up for one another.
Come for an evening grounded in soul, service, hope and the possibility of something greater.
