About this Event
Former Celtic player and Albanian international captain, Rudi Vata will be in Waterstones, Argyle Street on 26th September to discuss his autobiography, ‘Football, Freedom and Paradise’ with his co-author Gerard McDade.
Raised under the brutal totalitarianism and oppression of the Communist regime in his native Albania, Rudi dreamt of the ambition of being free to travel the world and earn his living as a professional footballer.
In 1991, at the age of 22, he took the dramatic step of seeking political asylum after an international match against France in Paris. He has spent his life looking for freedom and will be discussing a career that took him to Celtic as well as Cyprus, Germany, Japan and other countries to ply his trade and find that freedom.
It’s a fascinating story that you will not want to miss, and the evening will consist of chat, readings from the book and finish with a signing session.
