Join the Department of English as the Esther Freier Lectures in Literature Series presents novelist R. F. Kuang. This in-person event is free and open to the public with prior registration. There will be no recording or streaming available. Register: z.umn.edu/KuangtixBestselling author of the Poppy War trilogy, Kuang won the 2022 Nebula Award for Best Novel for Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution. Her most recent novel, Yellowface (William Morrow, 2023), grapples with questions of diversity, racism, and cultural appropriation. A new novel, Katabasis, is due in August. A Marshall Scholar, Kuang has an MPhil in Chinese Studies from Cambridge and an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Oxford; she is now pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale.
