“Chorus hooks that puncture on first listen…memorably celestial vocal harmonies…even the more challenging songs come dressed in genial, attractive melodies” —PopMattersPaula Cole has never been afraid of speaking complex truths. With a musical catalog defined by honest and deeply personal lyrics carried by her powerful, radiant voice, Cole has always had a gift for discerning the underlying humanity in stories from her own life as well as those around her, and channeling those emotional elements into captivating music.
Cole’s eleventh studio album, “Lo” is devastatingly personal and utterly gorgeous. Her first album of original compositions in five years, “Lo”’s eleven songs, written entirely by her, navigate her opening to trust again after indelible blows of life. As the first woman to ever be nominated for the Best Producer Grammy in her own right, she also returned to the helm of recording as sole producer. On “Lo”, her loyal bandmates of many years joined Cole in the studio. “Lo” was recorded entirely live, featuring full band performances from Jay Bellerose (drums), Chris Bruce (guitars), Ross Gallagher (bass, backing vocals) and Rich Hinman (pedal steel, guitars). It was recorded and mixed by nine time Grammy-winning engineer Mike Piersante, whose unique sound is the canvas for “Lo.”
Don’t miss an unforgettable evening with this powerful, influential performer in Montalvo’s intimate, indoor Carriage House theatre.
Opening performer Morley (joined by Chris Bruce) weaves the threads of jazz, soul, and folk into a singular tapestry of vocal and acoustic splendor.
