About this Event

Join us for an evening with LBC presenter and activist Natasha Devon discussing her book The Nuance Drought: Reclaiming Truth and Complexity in a Polarised World, this examines the dangers of our increasing tendency towards tribalism and the devastating impact clinging to one ideology is having on politics, and our own physical and mental health

In a more global world than ever, we have become increasingly tribal. We ally ourselves with one ideology, become cult-like in our dedication and ignore anything that challenges those beliefs. By being sucked into online rabbit holes of one extreme opinion, we are destroying the environment, dividing families and communities and risking voting against our own interests.

In this timely investigation, Devon examines the psychology behind our need for certainty and makes a rallying call to embrace the messiness and complexity of the world to reclaim empathy and build community.

Offering thoughtful commentary of the complexity of navigating a modern existence, Devon draws on a range of topical examples, including the 2026 Baftas, the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, as well as times where she herself has been misrepresented in media. Along the way she gives remarkable insight into where nuance has been disregarded at a time when it would provide the upmost value.

In a world that's parched for complexity, it’s time to end the nuance drought.

Natasha Devon is a writer, presenter and activist. She has a radio show on LBC and also tours the UK working in schools and colleges talking to people from a wide variety of backgrounds with different views on the issues of the day.
