About this Event
“His delicate songs about love and defiance recall Richard Thompson and John Lennon”
-Time Out magazine
Irish singer-songwriter Mark Geary brings his deeply intimate and emotionally resonant songs to the United Irish Cultural Center for a special live performance.
Over twenty years ago, Geary left Ireland with a one-way ticket to New York, where he honed his craft at the legendary Sin-é Café, performing alongside artists such as Jeff Buckley. Since then, he has built an acclaimed career defined by honesty, restraint, and lyrical depth. As Time Out noted, “His delicate songs about love and defiance recall Richard Thompson and John Lennon.”
With six studio albums and three live recordings, Geary’s music is stripped back and emotionally precise. His lyrics explore love, loss, tenderness, regret, and resilience, delivered with a quiet intensity that draws listeners in. A collector of guitars, each tuned differently, Geary crafts performances that feel raw, personal, and unforgettable.
Geary has shared stages with artists including Glen Hansard, John Prine, Elvis Costello, Joe Strummer, Coldplay, and The Frames, and his music has appeared in numerous films and television productions. His most recent album, In the Time of Locusts (2024), was recorded in a forest cottage and reflects a powerful period of reflection and creative renewal.
Rooted in the Irish experience yet shaped by years in America, Mark Geary’s songs continue to resonate with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. This is a rare opportunity to experience one of Ireland’s most compelling contemporary songwriters in an intimate setting.
One night only — don’t miss it. 🎶🇮🇪
