Author and scientist Mark Alsip will be discussing and reading from his autobiography, “Journey to Reason.” A limited number of free copies of the book will be available, first-come first-served basis, so be sure to join us right at 7:00!Born and raised in Creationism, Mark was a skeptic right out of the gate. His keen hunger for knowledge and truth led him away from his absurd religious environment toward a brilliant career in the sciences. And all along the way, at every stage in his life, he observed breathtaking cognitive dissonance in people, which he sees as an ever-growing trend of outright science denial.

He is fearlessly critical of religion’s dangerous lies and yet has only compassion for the human beings caught up in them. He articulates some very inconvenient, uncomfortable, and alarming truths about where we will end up if the social schism—fueled primarily by religion—in this country isn’t repaired soon.
Mark sets an outstanding example of how to coexist with people who see our very complicated world as either good or evil. We all must work to acquire this vital skill. It’s the only way to avoid the very real threat of this country descending into authoritarianism. Even those of us who can tear apart religious apologetics in our sleep have much to learn from Mark.
