Cummings poem ‘Somewhere I Have Never Travelled, Gladly Beyond’ which goes ‘No one, not even the rain, has such small hands’ which I paraphrased to ‘Nothing can wash this away, not even the rain’ –– I’ve always loved that imagery and intrigue... I’ve never been a realist, the magic and mystery is where my heart lies and where my mind wonders...”
John Bramwell has been on a never-ending rolling adventure since his workings away from the cherished, Mercury Prize nominated Mancunian band, I Am Kloot. February 23rd 2024 marked the release of the acclaimed, sophomore album ‘The Light Fantastic‘.
Lauded across the board, ‘The Light Fantastic‘ is a masterclass in emotionally charged and melodically driven tunes for the adventurous. “After both my Mum and Dad died, I started writing these songs to cheer myself up,” John admits with typical candour. “The themes are taken from my dreams at the time. Wake up and take whatever impression I had from what I could remember of my dream and write that.” Despite the sentiment, the songs are surprisingly uplifting and have been lighting up, and selling out, countless live shows across the country.
