About Joe Hottinger
Joe Hottinger has spent more than two decades on the road as lead guitarist and songwriter for Grammy® Award winning rock band Halestorm. For nearly as long, he's had a camera in his hands.
Hottinger joined the Pennsylvania born band in 2003, helping shape the sound that would carry Halestorm from small clubs to arenas and festival main stages around the world. The band is known for its relentless touring backing up six studio albums, six EPs, and two live records all on Atlantic Records.
Somewhere amid the blur of tour buses, green rooms, and soundchecks, photography became a second creative outlet.
Drawn to the discipline of the rangefinder and the unmistakable rendering of Leica cameras, he began documenting the world from inside touring life. He shoots his bandmates, fleeting backstage moments, and the quiet beauty of a life lived on the road.
What began as a way to preserve moments that disappeared almost as quickly as they happened has grown into a remarkable body of work. His photographs have been widely shared by publications, fans, and fellow musicians alike. Fine art prints are available through his website, thejoestorm.com.
This exhibition marks the first time that archive has been brought into a gallery setting. A rock n roll guitarist's perspective turned toward the people, places, and in-between moments that define a life spent both onstage and just beyond it.
