In Dividing Lines, Archer explores how highways and other transportation infrastructure have shaped American communities — and how decisions about where roads are built, who is displaced, and which neighborhoods are connected or divided have reinforced racial and economic inequality for generations.
During this special evening at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, Archer will discuss Dividing Lines and the powerful connections between our built environment, racial justice, civil rights, and the ongoing work to create communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Archer is a nationally recognized civil rights lawyer, scholar, and advocate. In addition to serving as President of the ACLU National Board, she is a professor at NYU School of Law and directs the Center on Race, Inequality, and the Law. Her work examines racial justice, civil rights, and the ways public policy and infrastructure can shape opportunity and belonging.
