About the Author:
Dany Laferrière has written more than 38 books, including his first, How to Make Love to a Negro without Getting Tired (1985); I Am a Japanese Writer, The Return (2009 France’s Prix Médicis), An Aroma of Coffee, The World Is Moving Around Me (2010 - Kirkus Review), A Drifting Year, Why Must a Black Writer Write about Sex?, Little Treatise on Racism in America; and graphic novels such as Self-Portrait of Paris with Cat. Born in 1953 in Port-au-Prince, Laferrière spent a happy childhood with his grandmother in Petit-Goâve. As a young journalist, he fled the Haitian dictatorship and moved to Montreal, where he worked in a factory before purchasing his legendary Remington typewriter and becoming a creative writer.
