We are hugely excited to welcome Chris Broad to Conway Hall to celebrate the publication of Journey Across Japan: Adventures off the Beaten Path
The author of the mega-selling former Waterstones Non-Fiction Book of the Month Abroad in Japan returns with a hugely entertaining and engrossing tour of all forty-seven Japanese prefectures, complete with embarrassing anecdotes, practical information and more. On his quest to show the world that there’s so much more to Japan than Tokyo and Kyoto, Chris Broad has visited all of forty-seven prefectures himself. Now, in Journey Across Japan, he takes us with him on an epic adventure that spans every corner of the country.
Moving to Japan to teach on the Japan Exchange Teaching programme in 2012 (JET), Chris resurrected his discarded dream of becoming a filmmaker, by launching a Youtube channel soon after he arrived.Through the fresh perspective on life in rural Japan and the unfiltered style of commentary (which essentially means a lot of swearing), the Abroad in Japan channel quickly grew to become one of the biggest online resources on all things Japan.In the years since he’s produced over 200 episodes
