Songwriter, recording artist, performer, educator and activist, Carrie Newcomer comes to Second on Thursday, May 11 presenting a concert with Second’s own Sanctuary Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michelle Louer. Newcomer has 19 nationally released albums and three books of poetry and essays, "A Permeable Life: Poems and Essays", "The Beautiful Not Yet: Poems and Essays & Lyrics", and "Until Now: New Poems". Her song, "I Should’ve Known Better" appeared on Nickel Creek’s Grammy-winning gold album "This Side", and she earned an Emmy for her PBS special, "An Evening with Carrie Newcomer".
The Sanctuary Choir joins Carrie Newcomer for a specially commissioned arrangement of "Betty’s Diner".
