Join us for an evening of poetry with Dina E. Cox, author of What Holds. This free event takes place Thursday, June 25th, 7 pm at Gallery 78 (796 Queen St.)
"Dina Cox brings a haiku poet's eye and heart to What Holds. She also writes of masks, blueberries, barn doors and grandparents -- histories, personalities, legacies. Her scope is wide and dazzling. Highly recommended." - Terri Ann Carter, author of In the Spaces Between Bonsai
About the Book:
The poems in What Holds encompass the vast expanse of a lifetime, those who influenced it, and those who are still a part of it. They speak of family, delight, and sadness, all with an observant and often philosophical eye, but also with an artistic and lyrical sensibility. Whether the author is writing about Normandy, the English Lake District, a waterfall in rural Ontario, or a backyard from her childhood in Saint John, New Brunswick, these poems exhibit a strong, unwavering sense of place. Reading them, you will feel as if you, too, have seen and know what the poet knows.
About the Author:
Maritime-grown Dina E. Cox is a writer of lyric and haiku poetry, a musician, an occasional freelancer, and grandmother to thirteen. Her poetry has been published in a variety of journals and anthologies in Canada, the U.S., Ireland, and Bulgaria. One of her haiku won the Betty Drevniok Award, the premier Canadian award for haiku in English. What Holds is Dina’s second collection of poetry. She lives in Unionville, Ontario.
