In Chicago for the UNESCO International Jazz Day, Martina Barta will perform an intimate concert ahead of International Jazz Day presented by the Prague Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International.

Getting there: There is a complimentary reserved parking lot located at 6757 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL (Katt's Auto) on the Southeast corner of Oak Park Ave. and Belmont St. that is one block away from Cafe Prague. There is also street parking.

Guests of Honor

In addition to Ms. Barta, we are pleased to welcome two Guests of Honor. Tomáš Sedláček is a Czech university lecturer and Chief Macroeconomic Strategist, and was an economic advisor to former Czech Republic President Václav Havel (2001–2003). His book, The Economics of Good and Evil, has been translated into 22 languages and has received numerous international awards. Šimon Pánek is the co-founder and executive director of the international humanitarian organization “People in Need” and is a former student leader of the 1989 Velvet Revolution.

About the Prague Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI)

Prague is one of Chicago’s 28 sister cities, and the Chicago-Sister City relationship is facilitated by a group of active volunteers and members of Chicago’s Czech community to form the Prague Committee of CSCI. CSCI advances Chicago as a global city and promotes peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation through citizen diplomacy – one individual, one community at a time – for the benefit of Chicago and its sister cities. To accomplish its mission, Chicago Sister Cities International develops programs in the areas of cultural arts and tourism, global education, government relations, and international business. Chicago Sister Cities International is a program of , a public-private, non-profit partnership that drives inclusive economic growth and job creation, supports business, and promotes Chicago as a leading global city.

Ticket sales for this event help fund the Prague Committee’s programs including student exchanges between Whitney Young Magnet High School and Gymnázium Nad Alejí in Prague, as well as events for visiting artists, authors, and musicians from Prague.
