An Evening of Elgar
About this Event
The evening celebrates the music of Edward Elgar, opening with the stirring Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. Cellist Yu Yu Liu then takes the stage for Elgar’s deeply expressive Cello Concerto, a work of intimacy and emotional depth that has become one of the most beloved works in the cello repertoire. The program concludes with the Enigma Variations, a richly varied and imaginative set of portraits that showcases Elgar’s gift for melody, character, and orchestral colour.
Program:
Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1
Elgar: Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85
Elgar: Enigma Variations, Op. 36
