ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Julia Child Award recipient, journalist, and Cook's Country Editor-in-Chief Toni Tipton-Martin is the force behind the James Beard and IACP Award–winning book Jubilee as well as The Jemima Code and the newly released Juke Joints, Jazz Clubs & Juice. North Carolina–born Morgan Bolling is Cook's Country Executive Editor of Creative Content, a Cook's Country TV cast member, and a barbecue expert. Together, they aim to amplify the stories of Southern women cooks throughout history.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Bonnie Benwick is a freelance editor, recipe tester, and consultant. She worked as a food and recipes editor at The Washington Post from 2004 to 2019, and published “The Washington Post Cookbook: Readers’ Favorite Recipes” in 2013. She teaches cooking classes at the Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital and serves as an advisor for the nonprofit Food for Kids and on the board of Les Dames d’Escoffier DC Regional Chapter.
ABOUT LES DAMES D'ESCOFFIER
Les Dames d'Escoffier DC is the Washington DC chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International(LDEI), an international philanthropic organization comprising 29 chapters across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Our members are professional women in the food, beverage and related industries. All are women of achievement, leaders in their fields as well as their communities, and have a minimum of five years' experience in their respective industries. Les Dames d’Escoffier DC participates in LDEI’s international programs Green Tables, Civic Agriculture and Garden Initiative and Global Culinary Initiative. Green Tables aims to help consumers of all ages better understand the link between farming and eating. Global Culinary Initiative offers programs and workshops about diverse international foods and culinary traditions to promote cross-cultural understanding. In addition our chapter provides opportunities for our members and their guests to socialize, network and learn.
