About the Event
Join us at GNM: Hancock for a wonderful opportunity to hear from three North East-based writers about their work.
Sophie Yeo is an environmental journalist and the author of the Wainwright Prize shortlisted book Nature's Ghosts: the World we Lost and How to Bring it Back (HarperNorth, 2024), an investigation of the deep history of landscapes and how rewilding might fix what's broken.
Matthew Kelly is a professor of modern history at Northumbria University whose most recent book The Women Who Saved the English Countryside (Yale U.P., 2023) traces the history of British landscape preservation through the lives of pioneering women including Octavia Hill and Beatrix Potter.
Marek Bidwell, a familiar face at NHSN, will be reading from his recently-published first book Skye Line: Backpacking the Original Skye Trail.
Join us for a relaxed evening of readings and conversation, where you will also have the opportunity to ask Marek and Sophie all your nature-inspired questions.
Light refreshments will be provided, and there will be sale copies of all tree writers' books available to buy (cash only)
