About this Event

Eorl Crabtree’s first experience of playing amateur rugby league was for Underbank rangers and Huddersfield YMCA while still at school. At the age of 15 the Giants watched him play in the Huddersfield holiday cup final and instantly asked him to come and train with the Giants junior academy side. He had to wait a little while longer before making his Giants Academy debut but the 6ft 6 18st Giant was quickly noticed. It didn’t take long before professional terms were offered and Eorl signed his first professional contract for the Huddersfield Giants on his 17th birthday in 1999. Eorl made his senior debut at just 18 years old down in London coming off the bench in 2001 which ended in defeat.

Eorl would go on to be a one club man representing the Giants an incredible 428 times scoring 79 tries. Gaining promotion in 2002, reaching two challenge cup finals, winning a league leaders shield, being included in the 2013 dream team and also playing 18 times for England. On retirement at the age of 34 Eorl was inducted into the Huddersfield Giants hall of fame, the first player since ken senior in 1979.

After retirement, Eorl became Huddersfield Giants' club ambassador, working alongside the commercial department linking with businesses, helping organise events, and building relationships with new partners and sponsors. His transition from rugby league was an easy one as he used the skills picked up through his playing career adapting and learning along the way. As well as working alongside the Giants, he has set up two businesses with his partner: Estate 8 ltd renovating properties and Estate 8 holiday homes. He also works alongside EV3-power as an ambassador, specialising in sustainability options including electrical vehicle charging points, and has created his own Number 8 gin (num8er Gin).
