From TVs of Terror - screeners of Feeders 2, Winterbeast, and Candyman - comes a different breed of monster movie...For our post-love-in extravaganza, we're keeping a little love in our hearts for our first (?) werewolf movie, the inimitable 1981 comedy-horror hybrid from genre maverick John Landis - AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON.
David and Jack (David Naughton, Griffin Dunne) are just two American schmucks crossing the moors of rural England one unlucky full moon night when, after being shooed by frightened locals from a pub, they're attacked by a bloodthirsty lunatic. Now Jack's dead, David's comatose in hospital, and no one seems to be able to explain what happened. Soon, though, David undergoes an unusually speedy recovery under the care of nurse Alex (Jenny Agutter) and begins exhibiting strange behavior just as a series of nasty killings occur in London. Who..or what...is behind it all?!
If you've never seen this masterpiece of early-80s horror filmmaking, with moments both genuinely funny and startlingly gruesome, you're in for a real treat! This is one of the "good" movies - maybe one of the best - we've shown, and we think you'll agree. Even better, we'll have a real silly time onstage with the return of Popp-Topp and (hopefully) Bingo!
