About this Event
Cunliffe (1918-2006) was born in New York City and came to live in Manchester in 1949. She was an official sculptor for the Festival of Britain in 1951, and was also a designer of jewellery and textiles. In 1955 she designed the theatrical mask which has been used as for the annual awards presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). in Leeds Cunliffe designed the relief for the Man Made Fibres Building on the University campus.
Ann will share her research into the life and work of this fascinating woman, whose contribution to British Art is currently being re-evaluated. Ann has dedicated the lecture to the late Ben Read, former Chair of the LAF, who inspired her research into Cunliffe
