Friday, August 19th, Join us for a night of all strings songwriters, featuring two cellists and a violinist. Hosting is Mother Foucaults bookstore. Located on the border of Portland’s inner southeast industrial district, Mother Foucault’s specializes in used, rare, and vintage books. Mother Foucaults creates the perfect cozy space and unique listening room for strings.

Music at 8pm sharp

Ollella, (she/her) from Seattle is a cellist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Described as “really outstanding” by NPR Music’s Bob Boilen and “so tastefully done” by Michelle Zauner (Japanese Breakfast), Ollella blends the acoustic with the contemporary, folk with pop, and tenacity with softness. Her playing has been featured in films screened at Film Festivals such as Sundance and Aspen Film Fest, on recordings with others including Grammy-winning artist Peter Kater, and has shared the stage with popular Americana acts such as the Shook Twins and Rising Appalachia.

Mirabai Peart - (she/her) is a versatile violinist, violist, singer and teacher. She has performed on many continents, at major festivals and venues ranging from house concerts to iconic venues like Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. She has toured with Joanna Newsom, Ryan Francesconi and Alela Diane among others, and her playing features on numerous records including Margot Cilker's 'Pohorylle' and Offa Rex 'Queen of the Hearts' as well as her duo album with Ryan Francesconi, 'Road to Palios'. Mirabai's playing draws upon her classical training and diverse and numerous folk traditions. Influences include jazz, free-improvisation, American, Celtic, Scandinavian, Balkan and Middle Eastern folk music.

Twin Bridges -(he/him) Zachery Gerzon, a cellist and songwriter from New Mexico, currently residing in Portland, OR. Twin Bridges creates live loops on cello and features a band of friends on trumpet(Kylie Shay McDermott), clarinet/saxaphone(Julia Michel) & bass clarinet (Chris Lazarek).
