The Solebury Township Historical Society presents a history tour of the old Ruckmanville Tavern
About this Event

Come enjoy a late summer afternoon with STHS for a tour of the Ruckmanville tavern and homestead. Early records indicate a tavern, general store and blacksmith shop existed in the mid 1700's and was purchased by John Ruckman in 1807. This became the hamlet in Solebury called Ruckmanville. For more than half a century this forgotten crossroads was the beating civic heart of Solebury Township, - where your great-great-great-grandparents went to vote, buy flour, shoe a horse, and hear the news.

Learn about the history of the property and the Ruckman family, John's involvement in civic life as county commissioner and judge, job as a surveyor and hosting the county’s first agricultural fair. John also participated in the underground railroad in 1847.

Refreshments and cocktail hour with live music will add to the wonderful afternoon. Proceeds from this event will continue to help STHS educate and preserve our history in Solebury. Tickets: STHS Members $80, Non-Members $90.
