An ADF families event: Child of the ADF Medallion Ceremony, Cairns

NOTE: This event is only for children of current-serving Australian Defence Force members.

The Child of the ADF Medallion (CoADFM) will be presented to children who have shown resilience and growth in managing the challenges of the ADF lifestyle.

Participation in the Child of the ADF Medallion Program is open to all recognised dependents of full time ADF members (SERCAT 6/7 and SERVOP C), who have experienced one or more of the following;

• Managing a recent relocation
• Connecting to a new community following relocation
• Managing a lengthy absence or frequent absences of the ADF family member due to service requirements
• Absence of ADF member due to short notice posting, deployment or exercise
• Difficult Family situation

To nominate your child/ren for a Child of the ADF Medallion, please register by Wednesday 3rd October.

You should carefully read the following information to ensure you are aware of all requirements relating to this program. This information is regularly updated and may not be the same as information on previous DMFS program/events you may have registered for.

Please Note:

• Each eligible participant may only receive one CoADFM during the member’s service (if your child received a medallion in 2023 they are not eligible to receive another one in 2024).
• When registering for the program, you must register for a ticket for each eligible dependant you are nominating to receive a Medallion (e.g. if you have 3 children, please ensure you register for each child).

Important ticketing information:

• Tickets to this event are essential and are limited so book now!
• If you or someone in your family are feeling unwell with flu-like symptoms on the day, please stay at home.
• Ensure that the email address you register with is accurate as you will receive your booking confirmation, and any additional information or changes to the event, by email.
• Parents are required to provide direct supervision to their children at all times.

• If you become unable to attend the event, please cancel your booking by clicking on the link in your confirmation email ‘View and manage your order online’. This takes you to your ‘Tickets’ page where you can choose the ‘Cancel my Order’ option to release the tickets back to the event listing.

Photography and Social Media

Photographs will be taken at all DMFS events. Please let our staff know if you do not want your family to be photographed. Photos may be used on our social media channels or in a DMFS publication.

Cancellation or Postponement:

This event will be cancelled or postponed if a severe weather event threatened eg: heavy rain, severe storms, electrical storms or cyclone.
