About this Event
Now, as a rule, we don’t do very many cover and tribute bands. Our preference it to put on high quality original music from the best acts in the UK and abroad.
That said, we do make exceptions for the highest quality tributeers.
We dearly love Amy Winehouse, and ‘Sound of the Lioness’ are one of the top bands in the UK. They have played six sold-out gigs here before and are returning in April by popular demand.
Just fitting the band into our intimate cellar is a bit of a challenge. There are eight musicians including a full brass section. All great players in their own right. For example, on trumpet, they have Jonathan Read, who was in The Specials and who has played here many times with his various projects.
Featuring a full horn section and backing vocals, the band authentically recreates the live sound of Amy’s touring shows of the 2000’s, ranging from the jazz-inflection of the Frank era (2004) to the soul-drenched Mark Ronson style of the Back to Black years (2006-7).
It will be another top night and we can’t wait to welcome them back!
