Amy Blanding is a queer, disabled musician whose work refuses silence. Knownfor her fierce songwriting, powerful vocals, and electrifying stage presence, she
gathers moments from the Northern Canadian wild and shapes them into
raw-edged, steadfast protest-folk. Born in the four corners region of Navajo, Hopi,
Ute, and Zuni territory (Colorado) and raised on the red shores of Epekwitk,
Mi’kmaq territory (PEI), she eventually made her way to the traditional and
unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh (Prince George, BC).
After performing her song “Sunbirds,” written about the genocide in Palestine,
Amy lost her job as a senior DEI professional and became a national voice for
justice—pursuing two lawsuits while releasing the track to international acclaim
and donating all proceeds to humanitarian aid in Gaza. A former member of Black
Spruce Bog, with collaborations spanning the Prince George Symphony Orchestra
to Kym Gouchie, she now prepares to release her sophomore album, co-produced
by John Raham (Fall 2025). Joined onstage by multi-instrumentalist Melissa
Walker, her performances are harmony-rich, high-energy, and deeply moving.
