Reviews of the new album
“The Finns’ trademark sound has been refined and nurtured to the point of near perfection.” — METAL HAMMER (UK)
“Absolutely staggering from start to finish!” — POWERPLAY (UK)
“The band should soon be declared part of Finland’s national cultural heritage.” — METAL HAMMER (DE)

A Legacy Forged in Metal
Amorphis is, without a doubt, one of the most important and well-known Finnish metal bands ever.
Their debut album, The Karelian Isthmus (1992), released via Relapse Records, received rave reviews worldwide and opened doors to countless live opportunities.
However, it was their groundbreaking sophomore release, Tales from the Thousand Lakes (1994), that permanently etched Amorphis’ name onto the global metal map.
That record not only brought the band their first American tour supporting Entombed, but also marked a defining stylistic evolution — introducing more keyboards, melodic depth, and clean vocals.
Tales from the Thousand Lakes is widely regarded as the band’s breakthrough, a landmark that set them on a long and victorious march through the decades to become one of metal’s most beloved and enduring acts.
The Journey Continues — Following the global release of their 15th studio album, Borderland (out now via Reigning Phoenix Music), AMORPHIS are set to embark on this monumental Australian tour as part of their worldwide Borderland campaign.
Recorded at Hansen Studios (Denmark) with acclaimed producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Primal Fear), Borderland represents a passage between past and future — a sonic threshold where myth and memory converge.
The album’s artwork, crafted by Dutch visionary Marald Van Haasteren (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Kvelertak, Alcest), visually mirrors the album’s deep sense of narrative and transformation, fueled by the poetic lyricism of Pekka Kainulainen.

About The Eternal
The Eternal formed in Melbourne, Australia in early 2003. In the bands almost 20 year history they have released 6 internationally acclaimed studio albums.
The band has toured extensively nationally & internationally with the likes of Amorphis, Anathema, Him, Katatonia, Swallow The Sun & Opeth just to name a few.
The Eternal’s sound can be best described as dark, melancholic progressive metal.
Following the success of their acclaimed 2024 album Skinwalker, Australian/Finnish dark progressive gothic metal band The Eternal return with their new EP Celestial.
Continuing their signature fusion of melancholic atmospheres, doom-laden heaviness, and progressive depth, the band once again delivers an emotive and cinematic journey through sound and spirit.
Featuring the tracks “Absence of Light,” “Celestial,” “It All Ends,” “Bleeding Into Light,” “Casting Down Shadows” and the exclusive bonus piece “Everlasting MMXXVI,” the EP stands as both a companion to Skinwalker and a bold statement of the band’s evolving artistry.
With Mark Kelson (vocals/guitars) and Richie Poate (guitars) in Melbourne, joined by Niclas Etelävuori (bass, ex-Amorphis/Flat Earth) and Jan Rechberger (drums, Amorphis) in Helsinki, The Eternal have solidified themselves as a truly international collaboration.
Their music resonates with fans of acts such as Katatonia, Swallow the Sun, and Anathema—dark yet luminous, heavy yet emotionally transcendent.
Set for release through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) in 2026, Celestial captures the essence of The Eternal: a band unafraid to embrace both beauty and bleakness while charting new creative horizons.

A Journey Through the “Borderland”
Among the record’s highlights is the haunting focus track ‘Fog To Fog’, inspired by the desolate beauty of the Arctic north.
Keyboardist Santeri Kallio shares: “I travelled as far north as I could, to the last corner of the Arctic Ocean, and there I found the inspiration for 'Fog To Fog'; dead black cliffs and feelings frozen forever. A journey to the Norwegian fjords, where no one lives voluntarily... maybe the Vikings once upon a time, most likely out of necessity.”
From the frozen silence of northern cliffs to the roaring warmth of the stage, AMORPHIS continue to explore the limits of melody, heaviness, and human emotion.
