About this Event

Class Description

The world can feel like a lot these days, but cute things make it better! Take your crochet skills to the next level by learning the basic principles of amigurumi, and discover joy and whimsy along the way. Materials and tools will be provided by your instructor. In order to get the most out of this course, it is recommended that students have a basic proficiency with slip knots, chain stitches, and single crochet stitches prior to attending class.

The materials fee for this class is $10. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Venmo and cash.

If you are in need of any disability accomodations, please contact [email protected].

Learning Objectives
  • An understanding of 3D crochet, magic rings, and amigurumi construction
  • Familiarity with reading written crochet patterns, including abbreviations
  • Skills to improve tension, shape, and size of finished crochet pieces
  • Most importantly, knowledge of how to make adorable critters that spread joy!

Instructor - Rain Meltzer (@the_rainbow_nook)

If you ever find Rain without a crochet hook somewhere in their vicinity, it's probably because they're elbows deep in a sewing machine they're repairing. As the founder and owner of The Rainbow Nook, Rain brings a vast array of knowledge and skills to each of their classes. Their primary passion is crocheting little creatures (and adding to their Cinnamoroll collection), but they also love sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, and just being generally crafty. They prioritize accessibility and flexibility in their classes, as they strongly believe that creativity is for everyone.

Target Audience

This would be a class for anyone 18+ who is familiar with basic crochet techniques (slip knot, chain, and single crochet).
